He maintained that Governor Fubara’s ability to endure the insults meted out to him even by members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) stands him out as a man of exemplary character worthy of emulation and followership.

RIVERS COMMISSIONER PIX 1 Warisenibo Johnson stated this in his office in Port Harcourt recently when the leadership of PDP Ward 2, Opobo/Nkoro Council paid him a solidarity visit, pointing out that the party seemed to have abandoned Governor Fubara after providing the platform for him to emerge as governor of the state.

He lamented that following the protracted crisis in the state, the PDP had not been fair to the child it gave birth to, saying: “After giving birth to a baby, it is only natural for the father to nurture and educate the child into an adult and not to neglect the child when people knock and abuse the baby, yet it has a father who is watching aloof without coming to the aid of the baby.”

Warisenibo Johnson also reminded the people that there was the need for everyone to get actively involved in the scheduled council elections so that leaders of the third tier of government can be properly elected.

The Commissioner for Information and Communications equally noted that Governor Fubara will definitely create more opportunities to empower Rivers people as a matter of priority, adding that although at present, he was more focused on triumphing over the distractions and nuisance created to make him lose concentration in providing good governance.

Warisenibo Johnson further used the opportunity to extol the leadership of the ward headed by Mrs. Sotonye Toby Fulton, who he described as ‘the Deborah of our time’ due to her generous and non- segregation stance in dealing with people and issues of common interest.

Maintaining that Ward 2 is blessed with resourceful men and women under the leadership of a selfless woman with an uncommon spirit, he urged everyone to remain steadfast and assured that Governor Fubara will definitely overcome every challenge facing him at the moment.

Earlier, Chairman of PDP Ward 2, Senibo Sunday Darius Owuje, said they visited the Commissioner to congratulate him on his appointment into the State Executive Council (SEC) and to specifically appreciate and thank Governor Fubara for finding one of their own fit and worthy for such a sensitive office, as well as to commend the governor on how far he has taken the state even in the crises and turbulent times.

He also pleaded with the Commissioner to ensure that opportunities were created for empowerment of ward members to make them more dependable and self-sustaining, be made available and known to them, which will help to widen the support base of the ward.

Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Comrade Emmanuel Ndah, leaders of PDP Ward 2, Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area, among other supporters of the ward were among the delegation during the visit.
