A Nigerian legal practitioner, Chief Barrister Abdullai Tony Dania, has urged Nigerians to actively participate in the democratic process by using their voter’s cards to decide the nation’s future leadership rather than resorting to endless complaints about governance.
Dania, in a strongly worded public statement, said corruption and bad governance have continued to thrive because a few powerful and wealthy individuals are determined to sustain the status quo for their personal interests.
According to him, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done his best within the limits of his ability, but Nigerians must decide for themselves whether his performance is good enough to justify another term in office.
He challenged citizens to critically assess the current administration and determine whether the majority of Nigerians are satisfied enough with the present dispensation to continue with it.
The legal practitioner stressed that democracy gives every citizen a voice through the ballot box, urging Nigerians not to remain indifferent ahead of future elections.
“Do not sit on the fence. Stop complaining. Nigerians have complained since the days of former President Olusegun Obasanjo. Use the power nobody can take away from you, your voter’s card,” he stated.
Dania further advised voters not to allow inducements to influence their final decision at the polls, noting that while politicians may offer money or gifts, citizens should ultimately vote according to their conscience.
He specifically urged Nigerians to make a clear choice between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the APC and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, insisting that the future of the country depends on the decisions made by voters at the ballot box.
He concluded by calling on Nigerians to take responsibility for the nation’s democratic process by participating fully in elections and voting for candidates they believe can move the country forward.
