Deputy Comptroller Ahmadu Shuaibu, the newly deployed Acting Controller of Ogun l Command of Nigeria Customs Service has handed over at his previously held office to Comptroller Bisi Alade Olusola in Abeokuta on Wednesday after making a N21.1b revenue collection in 11 months
At a brief ceremony at the command’s headquarters, Shuaibu thanked the Acting Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi for his morale boosting visit to the area recently while soliciting maximum loyalty and support of the of the officers and men for the new Controller.
He enjoined them to continually discharge their duties without fear or favour while maintaining the cordial relationship that existed between the command and compliant excise factories.
While commending the officers for the various achievements of improved revenue collection and robust customs community relations achieved under his leadership, he emphasized the need for cooperation, intelligence gathering and sharing of ideas towards achieving the command’s goal.
Shuaibu achieved ground breaking revenue collection for the command after he assumed late office last year. He commenced modernisation of the revenue collection processes in excise factories and the two notable free trade zones – Gwangdong in Ignesa and Ceeplas in Sagamu.
The command collected N6b from October to December last year and posted over N22b for the year 2022.This showed an increase of 25.44 percent when compared with 2021
As at the first five months of 2023 , the command collected over N9b showing prospects of achieving more despite the lull in businesses caused by electioneering and cash crunch.
Comptroller Olusola commended DC Shuaibu for the good work done and sought the cooperation of all stakeholders in the area.
Shuaibu succeeded in bringing the total of excise factories to 57 after 19 additional ones were brought under excise control in Ogun State
