The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Command, has announced a total revenue generation of N19,404,925,403.950 for the month of June 2026, compared to N14,336,621,664.35 generated during the corresponding period in 2025.
The Acting Customs Area Controller of the Command, Deputy Comptroller of Customs Bolaji Lukman Adigun, disclosed this during a press briefing, stating that the impressive performance reflects the dedication and commitment of officers and men of the command to improving stakeholder compliance while advancing peace, prosperity and national economic development.

The Controller noted that while the command remains committed to facilitating legitimate trade and maximising revenue generation, it is equally focused on enforcing customs regulations to protect the nation’s economy.
As part of its enforcement activities, the command intercepted Container No. TIIU-473-9360, which was found to contain expired disposable paper products with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N809,698,761.

According to the Controller, physical examination of the container revealed 18 pallets of disposable paper, with each pallet containing 60 cartons. Some cartons contained 20 packs, while others contained 40 packs, with each pack holding 10 pieces, making a total of 184 cartons, equivalent to 182,340 pieces.
Further examination established that the products bore expiry dates of 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025, rendering them unfit for use and posing a significant threat to public health.

The Controller disclosed that, in line with established procedures and the command’s commitment to inter-agency collaboration, the process of handing over the seized items to the appropriate government agency for further regulatory action and proper disposal has commenced.
He described the interception as a demonstration of the vigilance, professionalism and dedication of officers of the KLT Command in enforcing customs laws and preventing unsafe, expired and non-compliant goods from entering the Nigerian market.

The Customs boss urged importers, licensed customs agents and other stakeholders to comply strictly with all import regulations, stressing that the command would continue to deploy intelligence-driven operations, effective risk management and thorough cargo examination to detect and intercept expired, falsely declared, prohibited and other non-compliant goods.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to contributing to national economic growth, public health and security through effective trade facilitation and enforcement.

The Controller also expressed appreciation to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for his visionary leadership and strategic guidance.
He commended officers and men of the KLT Command for their resilience and dedication to duty, while also thanking licensed customs agents, terminal operators, importers, the compliant trading community and partner government agencies for their continued cooperation and support.

He concluded by appreciating members of the media for their professionalism, objective reportage and sustained partnership in keeping the public informed about the activities of the Nigeria Customs Service, expressing confidence that the command would continue to consolidate its achievements in revenue generation, trade facilitation and enforcement while safeguarding the nation’s economy and public health.
