Chelsea Football Club has sacked Graham Potter as its manager, after series of bad results.
The Englishman joined the Blues in September few games into the season from Brighton and Hove Albion after new owner, Todd Boehly fired Thomas Tuchel.
Boehly invested heavily in the team with new acquisitions both in the summer and winter transfer windows.
However, league results have been poor, despite the club qualifying for the Champions League quarter-final. The team has remained rooted in 10th position for weeks, but dropped one place lower after yesterday’s home defeat.
Chelsea lost on Saturday 0-2 to Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge, a result that put the final nail in Potter’s coffin.
The club statement read: “Chelsea FC has announced that Graham Potter has departed the club. Graham has agreed to collaborate with the Club to facilitate a smooth transition.
“In his time with the club, Graham has taken us to the quarter final of the Champions League, where we will face Real Madrid. Chelsea would like to thank Graham for all his efforts and contribution and wish him well for the future”.
