Customs Renovates Ife Girls High School, Offers University Scholarships to Top Students

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has commissioned the fully renovated Ife Girls High School in Ile-Ife, Osun State, as part of its Customs Cares Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

IMG 20260915 WA0100The project was commissioned on Monday, September 14, 2026, with the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, urging the students to remain focused on their education and take full advantage of the improved learning environment.

Addressing the students, Adeniyi described education as a critical pathway to a better future, stressing that it could transform not only their lives but also those of their families and communities.
“Education is the passport that you need for a better life, for a better future, not just for you, but for your parents, your community, and the country,” he said.

IMG 20260915 WA0116The CGC also announced university scholarships for the school’s three best-performing students, challenging the students to reciprocate the NCS intervention through academic excellence.

“What this means is that I have thrown the ball into your court. I now want you to reward me back. What we are doing today is part of our wider corporate social responsibility programme, which we are executing in different parts of the country,” Adeniyi said.

IMG 20260915 WA0104Osun State Commissioner for Education, Dipo Eluwole, described the intervention as a significant milestone for education in the state, noting that it went beyond the renovation of physical structures.

“This is indeed a comprehensive intervention. It addresses the school’s educational, administrative, sanitary, recreational, environmental, and worker needs,” Eluwole said.

He added that the project demonstrated the importance of providing students with a conducive environment that supports both learning and their overall well-being.

IMG 20260915 WA0108The Principal of Ife Girls High School, Martina Akinremi, in her welcome address, expressed appreciation to the NCS for investing in the future of the students.

She pledged that the school would ensure that the renovated facilities were properly maintained and utilised to their full potential.
