Air Peace has commenced direct flight operations between Lagos and Barbados, operating its first scheduled commercial service on the route as part of efforts to improve air connectivity between Africa and the Caribbean.
The inaugural Lagos–Barbados flight, operated on May 24, 2026 aboard the airline’s Boeing 777 aircraft, departed Lagos with more than 284 passengers, reflecting increasing demand for easier and more direct travel options between Nigeria and the Caribbean.

Passengers on the historic flight included the airline’s Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Nowel Ngala; Barbados High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ghana and Liberia, Juliette Bynoe-Sutherland; popular Nigerian actress, Temitope Olowoniyan, alongside other airline officials and travelers.
The new route is expected to ease travel challenges long faced by passengers travelling between Africa and the Caribbean, including multiple stopovers, extended transit periods and complicated visa processes associated with connecting flights through foreign countries.

Stakeholders in the aviation industry described the development as a major milestone in the airline’s international expansion drive and a strategic move aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s position as a key aviation hub in Africa.
The direct service is also projected to boost tourism, trade, investment and cultural exchanges between West Africa and the Caribbean by offering tourists, business travelers, diaspora communities and other passengers a more convenient travel option.

The airline said the inaugural return commercial flight from Barbados to Lagos is scheduled for May 25, while subsequent services on the route will operate twice monthly, further establishing a direct air link between both regions.
