Senior Manager, Corporate Affairs TCIPC, the President of Maritime Correspondents Organisation of Nigeria (MARCON), Mr. Ismail Aniemu, Dr. Ubolur Julius, Head of Tariff and Billing Tin Can Island Port Complex, NPA, and the Vice president of maritime correspondent organization of Nigeria (MARCON), Paul Ogbuokiri at the office of Tin Can Island Port Complex (TCIPC) of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
The Tin Can Island Port Complex (TCIPC) of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Maritime Correspondents’ Organisation of Nigeria (MARCON) have pledged to strengthen their partnership to promote public understanding of port operations and improve information dissemination.
The commitment was made when MARCON executives visited the port, where the Head of Tariff and Billing at TCIPC, Dr Ubolur Julius, assured the organisation of the port management’s willingness to sustain collaboration with maritime journalists.
Julius, who represented the Port Manager, Abubakar Sani Isa, said the NPA recognised the important role of the media in educating the public about port activities and promoting awareness of developments in the maritime sector.
He said TCIPC maintained an open-door policy and encouraged journalists to approach relevant officials whenever they needed information about the port’s operations.
“We welcome you not just as journalists but to understand the critical function you perform, particularly in educating the general public about port operations,” Julius said.
He added that the port management was ready to work with MARCON in areas of mutual interest.
Speaking during the visit, MARCON President, Ismail Aniemu, said the organisation had maintained a cordial relationship with the NPA, both at its headquarters and at the port level.
Aniemu explained that the visit was intended to renew engagement with the current management of TCIPC and strengthen the existing relationship between the two organisations.
He reaffirmed MARCON’s commitment to objective journalism and the dissemination of accurate information about port activities.
“As journalists, for us, truth is sacred. We always give our support to disseminate information about your activities in an objective manner and in ways that promote our national interests,” he said.
The MARCON president added that the organisation would continue to cooperate with TCIPC management whenever necessary, noting that the visit was aimed at consolidating an existing partnership rather than establishing a new one.
