The Ogun I Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has recorded 43 seizures valued at ₦3,153,591,000 within 15 days of Deputy Comptroller Abdulhamid Ibrahim assuming office as Acting Customs Area Controller.
Ibrahim disclosed the figures on Wednesday, 15 October 2026, during his maiden press briefing in Idiroko. He took charge of the command on 29 September 2026.
The seizures include large consignments of foreign pasta, rice, unregistered drugs, military camouflage face caps, cannabis sativa, petroleum products, second-hand goods and vehicles. Five trucks alone, with a combined duty-paid value of ₦1.235 billion, will be forfeited to the Federal Government under Section 248 of the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023.
On 2 October, a patrol team acting on intelligence intercepted three trucks around 4:30 a.m. Examination at the command headquarters revealed:
A Sino Howo truck (MSW-232-XA) carrying 2,740 cartons of foreign Siddo pasta concealed with 500 cartons of Oki condensed milk
A Howo truck (TFA-674-XA) with 6,000 cartons of foreign Ginny pasta

An Iveco Elco truck (KMC-702-ZR) containing 6,500 cartons of foreign Doga pasta
Two days later, officers stopped a Dangote truck (FZE-552-DA) along the Afamin Dangote–Itori axis. It was loaded with 100 bags of foreign parboiled rice hidden among mica and gypsum stones.
On 11 October, a 10-tyre truck (AKL-456-XL) was intercepted carrying 321 army camouflage face caps and 27,831 pieces of unregistered drugs, including codeine cough syrup, injections, eye drops and supplements without NAFDAC numbers.
Other notable seizures include 4,013 wraps of cannabis sativa, one wrap of Canadian loud, 950 litres of Premium Motor Spirit, 660 bags of foreign parboiled rice, used pneumatic tyres, 106 bales of second-hand clothing, new and used shoes, face caps, bags, and 13 foreign-used vehicles (including models of Hyundai Tucson, Honda CR-V, Toyota Venza, Lexus LX 600 and ES 350, among others).
Ibrahim said the cannabis sativa would be formally handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Idiroko Special Command during the briefing. He described the drug seizures as particularly concerning because of their impact on youth, public health and national security.
The Acting Controller reaffirmed a zero-tolerance stance against smuggling. “Ogun I Command under my watch will not tolerate any form of economic sabotage,” he said, adding that operations would remain firm, fair and intelligence-driven.
He credited the results to intensified surveillance, strategic intelligence, and collaboration with sister security agencies, traditional institutions and local communities. Ibrahim also praised the leadership of Comptroller-General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the officers of the command, and the media.
Ibrahim warned smugglers and their collaborators to stay away from the command’s area of responsibility, stating that the unit remains vigilant and ready to protect Nigeria’s economic and security interests.
