Ag. Controller Adamu Reaffirms Commitment to Trade Facilitation at KFTZ

The Acting Area Controller, Kano/Jigawa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Deputy Comptroller of Customs, Usman Adamu, has reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to trade facilitation and inter agency collaboration following a working visit to the Kano Free Trade Zone (KFTZ).

The visit, which took place on Monday, February 2nd, 2026, formed part of DC Adamu’s familiarisation tour across the Command’s Area of Responsibility. It was aimed at strengthening stakeholder engagement and aligning operations with the Comptroller General of Customs’ policy thrust of Collaboration, Consolidation, and Innovation.

This was disclosed by the Public Relations Officer of the command, Chief Superintendent of Customs , Tahir Balarabe, in a press statement on February 4th, 2026.

In his remarks, DC Adamu expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded him by the management of the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA) and reiterated that the Command would continue to review its operations in line with existing laws to improve efficiency and transparency while safeguarding national security.

He also toured several enterprises operating within the Zone, where he acknowledged their cooperation and pledged the Command’s continued support to enable them to grow and contribute meaningfully to national economic development.

During the visit, the Director of NEPZA, Mr Bassey Richard, described Kano as a historic trading hub of major economic significance and commended the cordial relationship between the Command and the Free Trade Zone.

He praised the professionalism of officers and men of the Kano/Jigawa Area Command and assured the Command of NEPZA’s continued support towards achieving the Service’s mandate.

The visit concluded with an interactive session with customs officers deployed within the Zone. DC Adamu commended their dedication and the visible improvements recorded so far, urging them to remain steadfast in the discharge of their duties.
