The Managing Director of Muna Sylver Nigeria Limited, Princess Chi Ezeh, has congratulated the Apapa Port Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and its Area Controller, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, for achieving N2trillion revenue collection without hindering trade at the nation’s premier seaport.
According to a press statement signed by Princess Chi on 1st December , 2024, she observed that the best accomplishment for Apapa Command and its Area Controller was the ability to maintain seamless trade facilitation amid the innovations to attain N2trillion revenue in a single year.
Although Olomu already received 3 awards for Best Command in Trade Facilitation (Ports), Best Command in Revenue Generation, and an Award for the Customs Area Controller of the Year (2024), she encouraged to Apapa Customs boss and the entire Command’s operatives not to relent on their efforts.
Her words: “Comptroller Olomu was able to integrate freight forwarders, shippers and the entire port stakeholders in his drive for trade facilitation which led to the astonishing collection of N2trillion. The biggest accomplishment for me is achieving this without hurting the practice of freight forwarding or the trading public.
“He made N2trillion, but achieved it via teamwork with his officers and also with the port stakeholders, especially freight forwarders. Formerly, when you see a Command that has collected so much revenue you can be certain that they destroyed businesses in the bid to collect the money. This isn’t the case with Olomu because freight forwarders are happy with him.”
The veteran freight forwarder, Princess Chi, also appreciated the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) for awarding Olomu multiple awards for his outstanding feats at the CGC award night which held on Friday.
She remarked that Olomu really deserved the “Best Controller of the Year” for his exceptional leadership and improving on the command’s capacity to deliver on its mandates at Nigeria’s premier port of Apapa.
For the first time in the history of the Command, it generated N2trillion as revenue into government coffers as at November 20, 2024.
Under the leadership of Comptroller Olomu, the Command raised the bar of preventing revenue leakages and achieving maximum collection, even in the face of low trade volume.
Shortly after receiving the awards in Abuja, Comptroller Olomu while holding the plaques and certificates dedicated the honour to all officers and men of the command.
The Area Controller described the achievements as result of teamwork, dedication, focus and cooperation, stressing that no leader can excel without supportive lieutenants and called for continuous support from all stakeholders.
