IGP Orders Seun Kuti’s Arrest for Assaulting Police Officer


The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba has ordered the arrest Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, who was captured on video assaulting a police officer in uniform.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

In a video that surfaced online on Saturday, the singer was seen pushing, slapping and screaming at the policeman on the Third Mainland bridge.

The IGP condemned the act and directed the Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP), Idowu Owohunwa to take the singer into custody.


He equally ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.

IGP Baba assured Nigerians that acts of contempt/disdain for symbols of authority will not be tolerated while offenders of such hideous crimes will be surely brought to book.
