The Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas (Admiralty Medal), has commissioned a Special Intervention Quick Impact Project at Mayo-Belwa Central Primary School in Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area of Adamawa State, on 7 May 2026, as part of efforts to improve basic education infrastructure in underserved communities.
The project includes six blocks of renovated classrooms, newly constructed toilet facilities, a solar powered lighting system, as well as the provision of tables, chairs, and learning materials aimed at enhancing teaching and learning conditions in the school.
The intervention was executed in honour of the Navy Secretary, Rear Admiral Abdulhamid Baba-Inna, as a gesture of giving back to his hometown and contributing to educational development in Mayo-Belwa.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Vice Admiral Abbas, who was represented by the Director of Veteran Affairs, Rear Admiral Raheem Taofeeq, said the initiative aligns with the Nigerian Navy’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme under the Chief of the Naval Staff Special Intervention Quick Impact Project. He noted that it also supports the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises infrastructure development and human capital growth.

He further explained that the programme serves as a platform for the Navy to recognise and honour its senior officers who have distinguished themselves in service to the nation, while also extending tangible benefits to their communities of origin.
In his remarks, the Special Guest of Honour, His Royal Highness Alhaji Dr Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustafa, represented by Ardo Bamanga Dalil, commended the Nigerian Navy for the intervention. He described the project as a timely and impactful contribution that would strengthen the foundation of primary education in Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area.

Ardo Dalil added that the gesture would significantly improve learning conditions for pupils and ease the burden on teachers in the school.
The project facilitator, Rear Admiral Abdulhamid Baba-Inna, expressed appreciation to the Chief of the Naval Staff for providing the platform for the intervention and for the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the development of his community.
The commissioning ceremony attracted a wide range of dignitaries, including officials of the Adamawa State Government, senior military officers, heads of paramilitary agencies, and traditional rulers.
