The International Maritime Institute of Nigeria (IMION), is set to host an executive training course specifically for media professionals.
Scheduled for later this month, the course is designed to deepen the capacity of maritime journalists and media executives in understanding Nigeria’s Blue Economy, thereby enhancing their influence on public discourse, policy advocacy, and sustainable maritime development.
In a statement released on Friday, IMION described the initiative as part of its broader commitment to positioning the media as strategic partners in shaping the future of Nigeria’s maritime sector. The upcoming course, titled “Executive Course on the Blue Economy for the Media”, will bring together subject matter experts and top tier facilitators to deliver intensive, impact-driven sessions aligned with international standards.
According to the institute, the course will offer participants advanced insights into the Blue Economy, equipping them with tools to improve the quality of maritime reportage, foster industry collaboration, and drive constructive public engagement.
By empowering the media, IMION hopes to create a ripple effect that not only improves reporting quality but also strengthens policy outcomes and public accountability in Nigeria’s maritime space
