Tinubu Celebrates Customs CG, Adeniyi At 59, Commends his Contributions to National Development


President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has, on Saturday, 18 January 2025, extended heartfelt congratulations to the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, on the occasion of his 59th birthday celebration precisely on January 19, 2025.

In a statement issued to newsmen and signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information and Strategy), President Tinubu commended the transformative leadership of CGC Adeniyi since his appointment as the 14th Comptroller-General of Customs in June 2023.

The President lauded CGC Adeniyi’s contributions to advancing the Customs Service, highlighting his role in driving the digitalisation and automation of operations.

The president said, “This progress, coupled with a renewed focus on professionalism and boosting officers’ morale, has resulted in enhanced performance within the agency.”

“Under CGC Adeniyi’s stewardship, the Service has achieved unprecedented revenue surpluses, improved trade facilitation, and introduced innovative anti-smuggling strategies.” President Tinubu said.


“These efforts include empowering the youth with alternative livelihood skills, engaging with traditional institutions, and fostering effective communication and mutual respect within and beyond the service” he added.

President Tinubu also acknowledged the remarkable seizures of arms and ammunition under CGC Adeniyi’s leadership and the successful revival of the Comptroller-General of Customs’ Annual Conference, a platform to evaluate and strengthen Customs operations.

The President further recognised CGC Adeniyi’s over 30 years of remarkable service and his adaptability, which, according to him, brought immense value to the agency.

President Tinubu prayed for divine wisdom, good health, and continued strength for the Comptroller-General of Customs as he contributed to national development.
