Police Blame IPOB for Murder of 4 Officers in Imo


Gunmen have killed four policemen on a routine patrol in Imo State in an ambush.The incident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. on Monday at Irete, at the Owerri-Onitsha Expressway, in Owerri, the state capital.

Confirming the killing, the police spokesperson in Imo State, Henry Okoye in a statement said the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) was behind the attack.

The spokesperson said the Commissioner of Police in Imo, Aboki Danjuma “has deployed the command’s Tactical Units with the available operational assets and intelligence to go all out in synergy with other security agencies and hunt down the hoodlums responsible for the attack”.

IPOB claims responsibility for the killings
Simon Ekpa, a Biafra agitator has claimed responsibility for the killing of police operatives.

In a post on X, Ekpa said he and his group are demanding the withdrawal of all Nigerian security forces from the South-East region.


”If you think you will continue to use force and terrorism tactics to force us to remain in the union, this will continue to be your faith in Biafraland”, part of his tweet reads.
