…Holds Synergy Session With Customs Police
Deputy Comptroller Aisha Yinusa has formally assumed duty as the 22nd Comptroller of Post-Clearance Audit (PCA), Zone A, of the Nigeria Customs Service.
In her assumption-of-duty speech, Yinusa described the appointment as a significant responsibility, noting the strategic importance of PCA in revenue protection, compliance enforcement and trade facilitation. She expressed profound appreciation to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi and the Service Management for the confidence reposed in her.

Yinusa paid tribute to her predecessor, Acting Assistant Comptroller-General in charge of Tariff and Trade Comptroller F.T. Madu, for her leadership.
She recalled that under her predecessor’s tenure, the Zone recorded revenue recoveries of ₦15,849,187,676 in 2025 and a further ₦4,494,257,017.22 through PCA interventions in the third quarter of 2026. She congratulated her and the officers who contributed to the results and pledged to build on the foundation laid.

She noted that the PCA function is at an important stage of institutional development with the introduction of a Service Level Agreement (SLA) and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) developed in collaboration with the World Customs Organization.
Yinusa said Zone A has a critical responsibility to drive effective implementation of these instruments across PCA formations in the South-West through coordination, consistent application and continuous monitoring.

Outlining her priorities, the new Comptroller said she would focus on harnessing the professional capabilities of officers, promoting knowledge sharing, mentoring and teamwork.
She also pledged to pursue intelligence-driven and risk-management-led operations to target areas of significant compliance and revenue risk while minimising unnecessary disruption to legitimate trade.
Personnel management and welfare will receive deliberate attention, she added, with emphasis on fair deployment according to competence, continuous capacity development, and an open, supportive working environment.

Welfare, she stressed, must go hand-in-hand with responsibility, professionalism and accountability.
Yinusa further committed to stronger coordination and performance monitoring across formations, uniform operational standards, constructive stakeholder engagement and inter-unit collaboration.
She reaffirmed adherence to the core values of integrity, objectivity, accountability, transparency and professional due care.
“I recognise that the success of this assignment will depend not on individual effort alone but on the collective commitment, cooperation and professionalism of officers across the Zone,” she said.
“Together, we must ensure that PCA Zone A continues to contribute significantly to revenue protection, compliance improvement and the overall strategic objectives of the Nigeria Customs Service.”
She called for shared purpose, mutual respect and collaboration as the Zone works to consolidate gains and deliver greater results.
Speaking on behalf of Area Controllers present at the ceremony, Comptroller Murtala Muazu of Apapa Command described her as an officer who has shown dedication and efficiency over the years. He thanked the CGC for considering her while acknowledging that PCA, as part of modern customs administration, is evolving and requires greater commitment, discipline and a high degree of modernisation to achieve efficiency.
Muazu urged the new Controller PCA Zone A to brace up for any challenge that may occur as part of the assignment while assuring her of support whenever she deems it necessary.
Shortly after taking over, Yinusa held a synergy-building session with officers of the Customs Police Corps under the zone, led by the Assistant Provost Marshal, Assistant Comptroller of Customs Funere Williams.
She told the Customs Police officers that the various departments and units of the Service are pursuing a common goal for the national economy and security as led by the CGC.
At the meeting, which served as her first official assignment, she sought the cooperation of the CP Corps and to work together towards achieving the overall national interest.
The Assistant Provost Marshal congratulated Yinusa on her new role while stating the standard operating procedures of the unit. She formally introduced the head of the Customs Police attached to the Zone A PCA office.
Williams also assured Yinusa of the Customs Police’s readiness to always help the PCA attain excellence and overall orderliness.
