The President General of Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju has been honoured by the Senior Staff Association of Statutory Government Owned Companies (SSASGOC) for his outstanding leadership of the Union in the last eight years.
Comrade Akinola Bodunde SSASGOC Maritime President who led the team with official delegations from the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) described Adeyanju as an outstanding leader whose tenure saw tremendous development in the ports and on workers.
Bodunde said the event of honouring a Union leader between SSASGOC and MWUN is happening for the first time because Adeyanju created a legacy of industrial harmony dialogue and enhanced productivity.
Stakeholders at the event which had Port Managers from Tin Can and Apapa Ports and the newly appointed NPA Assistant General Manager, Industrial Relations credited Adeyanju for the unprecedented transformation the Union has achieved under him
Bodunde added that his association experienced great collaboration on various issues and prayed that Adeyanju’s successor works harder to meet the standard he is leaving behind.
The SSASGOC also honoured comrade Felix Akingboye, immediate past Secretary General of the Union for serving excellently and contributing to the success of the Union.
