Maritime Workers Union Applauds PTML for Paying Dockworkers Retirement Benefit


President General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) Comrade Adewale Adeyanju has commended the management of Ports Terminal Multiservices Limited for its recent payment of dockworkers benefit

PTML at TinCan Island Port, Apapa, reportedly paid retirement benefits to 74 aged dockworkers and the next of kin of 10 deceased ones, totaling 84 beneficiaries.

Under the supervision of Comrade Bello Abubakir, representative of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), PTML exceeded the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) recommendations by applying the minimum salary standard (NJIC) in full.

Adeyanju, a , hailed PTML’s management for their bold step, which has brought joy and relief to aged retirees and deceased dockworkers’ families. He urged other terminals to follow suit, setting a new standard for compassion and fairness in the industry.

According to a press release issued in Lagos by John Kennedy Ikemefuna, the union’s head of media,the payment acknowledges the beneficiaries’ contributions to the terminal’s growth and sets a shining example for others to follow. This gesture fosters a positive work environment and reinforces the importance of prioritizing workers’ welfare in the maritime industry.

He described the payment exercise is a testament to PTML’s dedication to its employees’ well-being, even after their service. The company’s commitment to exceeding industry standards has set a new benchmark for compassion and fairness in the industry.
