The Acting Controller of the command, Deputy Comptroller Usman Umar Adamu, attributed the revenue performance to improved compliance among stakeholders, stronger enforcement and measures introduced to make Customs processes more efficient.

Adamu said the Kano Free Trade Zone accounts for a significant share of the revenue, reflecting the growing contribution of businesses operating within the zone and the importance of compliance with Customs regulations to economic activities.

He explained that the command has stepped up engagement with stakeholders to promote voluntary compliance, address operational challenges and ensure that businesses understood their obligations under the law.

According to him, sustained interaction with importers, manufacturers and other operators has helped improve understanding of Customs procedures, including proper cargo classification, duty payment and documentation requirements.
