Key Facts About Transmission

Ebola spreads only through direct contact with the blood or other body fluids of a person who is symptomatic or has died from the disease, or through contact with contaminated materials. A person cannot transmit the virus before symptoms appear.

Public Guidance

Remain calm and vigilant; there is no cause for panic.

Practise thorough hand hygiene and avoid contact with the body fluids of anyone who may be ill.

Watch for symptoms—fever, severe weakness, headache, vomiting, diarrhoea—especially after possible exposure.

Report any potential exposure at once, even if you feel well. If symptoms develop, avoid close contact with others and contact public-health authorities before seeking care.

Rely only on verified information from official sources; avoid rumour and stigma.

Government Assurance

Nigeria successfully contained Ebola in 2014 and retains the experience, systems, and partnerships needed to manage this single imported case. Early detection, rapid isolation, rigorous contact tracing, and public cooperation remain the decisive factors in preventing wider spread.

The Federal Government, FCT authorities, NCDC, and partners will continue to issue accurate, timely updates. Investigations remain ongoing.
