ACG Onyeka Announces N401.1bn Revenue , N35bn Seizures, Hands Over to Comptroller Anani

The outgoing Customs Area Controller of the Tincan Island Port Command, Frank Onyeka, has said the Command generated N401,011,998, 443.71 as revenue in the first quarter of the 2026 fiscal year, while also recording major anti-smuggling breakthroughs with seizures of illicit drugs and prohibited items valued at over N35 billion.

Onyeka disclosed this during the handover ceremony where he handed over to Comptroller Joe Anani, following his elevation to the rank of Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs.

 

According to Onyeka, the Command’s revenue performance in the first quarter of 2026 followed its impressive 2025 fiscal record, where it generated N1.609 trillion, surpassing its revenue target of N1.524 trillion.

He attributed the achievements to discipline, intelligence-driven operations, improved compliance strategies, stakeholder engagement, and the deployment of modern trade facilitation mechanisms designed to balance enforcement with legitimate trade activities.

 

On the anti-smuggling front, Onyeka said the Command recorded significant successes, especially in the interception and seizure of illicit drugs and other prohibited items with an estimated street value exceeding N35 billion.

 

He noted that the seizures reflected the Command’s commitment to protecting the country from criminal networks and safeguarding public health and national security.

The outgoing controller added that the Command strengthened collaboration with freight forwarders, terminal operators, shipping companies, importers, exporters, and other stakeholders in the maritime sector during his tenure.

 

According to him, the engagement improved operational efficiency, dispute resolution, and compliance levels within the port environment.

 

Onyeka also highlighted efforts in human capital development, noting that the Command organised several training programmes and workshops aimed at improving the competence and efficiency of officers and men of the Service.

He expressed appreciation to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for his leadership and support throughout his tenure.

 

He also commended officers, stakeholders, partner agencies, and members of the trading community for their cooperation, which he said contributed significantly to the successes recorded by the Command.

 

Onyeka expressed confidence in Comptroller Anani’s capacity to sustain and surpass the Command’s achievements.
