Lagos Free Zone Customs Generates ₦253.3bn in Four Months as Comptroller Abubakar Hosts ACG Babandede
The Lagos Free Trade Zone Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has generated ₦253,385,539,061.88 as revenue between January and April 2026, representing a 40.87 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2025.
The Customs Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller Hauwa Abubakar, disclosed this during the official working visit of the Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs and Zonal Coordinator, Zone ‘A’, ACG Mohammed Babandede, to the Command on 13th May, 2026.
According to Comptroller Abubakar, the Command realised a total of ₦253.3b within the first four months of 2026, compared to ₦179.8b generated during the corresponding period in 2025.She said the increase reflected a revenue growth of ₦73.5 billion.
“I am pleased to respectfully inform the ACG that the Command has continued to record remarkable operational achievements,” she stated.
The CAC attributed the performance to improved operational efficiency, strict regulatory compliance and sustained trade facilitation measures in line with the fiscal policies of the Federal Government and the vision of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
Beyond revenue generation, Abubakar said the Command had continued to strengthen trade facilitation while ensuring compliance with extant regulations guiding operations within the Free Trade Zone.
She also highlighted efforts by the Command to improve officers’ welfare through accommodation support, transportation arrangements and the ongoing renovation of Command facilities to create a conducive working environment.
The Controller further noted that the Command had maintained strong collaboration with sister government agencies, Free Zone managements, terminal operators and other stakeholders, a development she said had enhanced operational harmony, intelligence sharing and compliance.
Abubakar appreciated the support and guidance from the Customs Headquarters and the Zone ‘A’ Headquarters, noting that the achievements recorded by the Command were made possible through strategic leadership and effective supervision.
She assured the visiting ACG of the Command’s continued commitment to discipline, professionalism, integrity and efficient service delivery.
