The Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has commissioned a new Analytics Centre, marking a significant step toward intelligence-driven customs operations and improved welfare for officers.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the Customs Area Controller of the Command, Emmanuel Oshoba, described the facility as a landmark development for the command and the service at large. He noted that the project signals the beginning of a new era of data-driven customs administration aimed at strengthening border security and facilitating legitimate trade.
The newly inaugurated two-storey building, named the CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi Analytical Arena, is designed to support modern customs operations through advanced analytics and improved operational coordination.

According to the Controller, the facility will house several key operational units, including a state-of-the-art Analytics Centre of Excellence, the Customs Intelligence Unit (CIU), the Command’s clinic for personnel healthcare, and other strategic offices.
He explained that the infrastructure reflects the vision of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, to deploy modern technology and analytical tools in combating smuggling, enhancing national security and facilitating legitimate trade across Nigeria’s borders.
The project, he said, was delivered through the Customs-PACT initiative, Partnership for Cooperation in Trade, which encourages collaboration between the Service and its stakeholders.

The Controller expressed appreciation to stakeholders and partners whose support made the project possible, noting that their collaboration demonstrates a shared commitment to strengthening trade facilitation and national economic growth.
He also commended the Comptroller-General for what he described as purpose-driven leadership and consistent support for officers at the command level, particularly in prioritising both operational efficiency and personnel welfare.
