During a live interview on Channels Tv “Politics Today” on 4th November , 2025 the party’s spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, described the situation as a dangerous sign, stressing that Kwara state , once known as the State of Harmony, has now become vulnerable to terrorist. He revealed that a terrorist group previously active in the North has announced its presence in Kwara state , which he referred to as the gateway to the SouthWest.

Abdullahi blamed the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the worsening security situation across the country, accusing it of hypocrisy and failure to act decisively. He stated that the government’s refusal to acknowledge the scale of killings has worsened the crisis, with entire villages being displaced under its watch.

The ADC spokesperson also accused the APC of introducing a religious dimension to Nigeria’s insecurity during its opposition years, a move he said has now backfired internationally. He recalled that opposition leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, had previously portrayed attacks as targeted killings of christians, a political tactic aimed at discrediting former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Abdullahi, a former Minister of Sports, noted that this framing has shaped international perception, with reports such as the U.S State Department’s 2023 International Religious Freedom Report interpreting Nigeria’s violence through a religious lens.

Reacting to U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent comments labeling Nigeria a disgraced country and hinting at possible U.S. intervention, Abdullahi described the remarks as disrespectful and unhelpful. He noted that such statements were a consequence of the government’s inability to manage the country’s image and security effectively. He urged the Tinubu administration to engage diplomatically with global partners to correct these misconceptions and rebuild Nigeria’s reputation.

He further called on the federal government to admit that its current security strategy is ineffective and to act swiftly to protect citizens across all regions. He emphasized that only a government capable of defending its people, irrespective of religion or ethnicity, can prevent foreign interference and restore public confidence.
