Comptroller Yahaya Partners Police, NAFDAC in Renewed Efforts Towards Security, Compliance at Ibeto Command

Customs Area Controller of Ibeto Seaport and Terminal Command, Area 5 Portharcourt, Comptroller Usman Yahaya has stepped up strategic partnerships with the Eastern Ports Command of the Ports Authority Police and the National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC)
During a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police for Eastern Ports, CP Mike Okoh, Comptroller Yahaya stated that synergy is the first step to build mutual confidence for intelligence sharing towards national security.
He described the Nigeria Police as a great partner to the NCS whose invaluable contributions have been of immense benefits to the service and country over the years.
The Area Controller also disclosed that he plans exploring areas of more interface from the strategic levels to the more tactical levels where the synergy between both organizations would cascade to their surbodinate
According to the CAC, legitimate business activities can only thrive in an atmosphere of security and orderliness and that the collaboration of sister agencies like NCS and NPF will always serve as a major step to suppress crimes and criminal activities before they fester
CP Okoh, who warmly received Comptroller Yahaya, thanked him for the visit and reassured the CAC of the police cooperation at all times
While congratulating the CAC on his recent promotion and deployment to Ibeto, Okoh expressed optimism in the Controller’s ability to turn the command around for the better.
In a similar development, Comptroller Yahaya received Bayo Adepoju, Director of NAFDAC at the Ibeto port where he harped on the need to stay vigilant in preventing unwholesome food, drinks, cosnetics and other NAFDAC regulated items from entering the country without due process of registration and obtaining of NAFDAC Number
He told the NAFDAC Director that the Memorandum of Understanding signed in Abuja at the 2024 Comptroller General of Customs Conference by the CGC, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR and Director General of NAFDAC, Prof Mojisola Adeyeye is a guiding instrument of collaboration for both organisations.
The CAC said the full weight of the law shall be used to sanction anyone found complicit in the importation of unsafe food and drinks
Comptroller Yahaya and Adepoju reiterated the need for regular interface to protect citizens well being by proactively preventing unsafe food and medicines from gaining access into the markets.
The new CAC who has reorganized the area with the recent office space expansion , construction of a quarter guard point and enforcement station, added that Ibeto Seaport and Terminal Command will be a no – go -area for smuggling, concealment, under declaration, under valuation and other acts capable of undermining national security, economic development and social well being of the citizens.
