The Nigeria Customs Service, Port and Terminal Multipurpose Limited (PTML) Command has achieved a significant milestone, generating over N150 billion between November 11, 2024 and March 4, 2025.
Comptroller Tenny Mankini Daniyan, Customs Area Controller of the PTML command, revealed this while speaking with journalists in his office on 4th March, 2025.
According to Daniyan, the impressive feat is attributed to the introduction of the B’Odogwu revenue platform, which was launched by the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi. And the platform has been running smoothly since its pilot stage, despite initial challenges.
Speaking further ,he said that the B’Odogwu platform has not only increased revenue generation but also provided the trading public with opportunities to maximize their business potential
He noted that B’Odogwu platform is a Unified Customs Management System (UCMS) designed to replace the existing Nigeria Integrated Customs Information System (NICIS) which innovative system is empowered by Section 28 of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, and enables Customs to initiate platforms for revenue collection
” “The CGC was in Apapa for sensitisation on the soon to be implemented B’Odogwu project in Tincan
“Let me leave it to the CG because since he came in, he has been innovative, churning out projects for the welfare of the trading public, facilitating trade and ensuring that traders get more money
“Since he came in, he has introduced projects like Time Release Study, Advanced Ruling, and they are all for the benefits of the trading public
“B’Odogwu is one of his legacy projects. It is called Unified Customs Management System (UCMS) which is to replace the existing NICIS.
“By Section 28 of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, it empowers Customs to initiate a platform for revenue collection
“So, the CGC in his initiative started this B’Odogwu to replace NICIS. We thank God, on October 23rd, 2024, the CGC launched it here and since we started, the baby is growing very well now.
“We thank God that we took a bold decision and today, it is working for us and by that, we were able to get along and I am able to tell you that NICIS stopped since November 11, 2024
“So far, we have been able to collect one hundred and fifty billion naira since we commenced B’Odogwu since November, 2024,”
