The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), Lagos State Council has commended Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for his exemplary decision to honour outstanding public servants in both the junior and senior categories with brand new cars.
In a statement issued by the Chairman, Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), Lagos State Council, Comrade Aladetan Abiodun, the union said the governor’s laudable initiative reflects a genuine appreciation of hard work, dedication, and excellence within the Lagos State Public Service.
“Rewarding workers who have distinguished themselves through exceptional performance sends a strong and positive message that merit, integrity, and commitment to duty are recognized and rewarded.
“The presentation of brand-new cars, rather than symbolic or token incentives, elevates the value of this recognition and significantly boosts morale across the public service.
“The TUC believes that such a forward-thinking approach promotes healthy competition, inspires professionalism, and strengthens productivity among workers. It also reinforces trust between government and the workforce, thereby enhancing industrial harmony and improving service delivery to the people of Lagos State.
“We encourage the Lagos State Government to sustain and institutionalize this culture of merit-based recognition, ensuring transparency, continuity, and inclusiveness. When workers are motivated and valued, governance becomes more effective and responsive,” the statement reads.
Aladetan restated that the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, Lagos State Council, reaffirms its commitment to constructive social dialogue and continued partnership with the Lagos State Government in advancing workers’ welfare, promoting decent work and building a resilient and people-centered public service.
