
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced the extension of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi ‘s tenure , which is expected to be due on August 31, 2025 by one year.
According to the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who disclosed this in a press release, the extension will enable the CGC to completely execute important initiatives that were introduced by him in the Nigeria Customs Service.
The President also stated that being a committed and resilient person, the extension will give Adeniyi the opportunity to achieve massive results through the mandate of trade facilitation, revenue generation, and border security.
“The extension, approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will enable Mr. Adeniyi to consolidate ongoing reforms and complete critical initiatives of this administration, including: The modernisation of the Nigeria Customs Service,The implementation of the National Single Window Project and The execution of Nigeria’s obligations under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) protocol.
“President Tinubu recognises Mr. Adeniyi’s steadfast leadership and commitment to service. He is confident that this extension will further strengthen the Nigeria Customs Service in achieving its strategic mandate of trade facilitation, revenue generation, and border security.”, the statement read.
