
In a bid to foster stronger inter-agency cooperation, the Customs Area Controller of Oyo/Osun Command, Comptroller Joseph Olugbuyi Adelaja, has reaffirmed his commitment to collaborate with security and regulatory agencies in Oyo State.
This was disclosed in a press statement issued by Assistant Superintendent of Customs Abdulmalik Abiodun Akintola, the command’s public relations officer on Tuesday 25th March, 2025.
Comptroller Adelaja, accompanied by senior officers of the command , paid a courtesy visit to key agencies, including the 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Immigration Service, and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
During his visit to the Nigerian Army and Immigration Service, Adelaja emphasised the critical role they play in safeguarding national borders and maintaining national security and also reiterated the service’s core functions, including revenue generation, trade facilitation, and suppression of smuggling.
The Area Controller also pointed out the need for greater collaboration through joint training programs, coordinated border operations, and improved intelligence sharing to strengthen national security and promote economic stability.
At NAFDAC office, he commended the agency’s relentless efforts in regulating pharmaceutical products and food safety, stressing the Customs Service’s commitment to preventing the circulation of substandard goods. He assured NAFDAC of continued support in enforcing regulatory policies that protect public health.
Responding to his visit, the General Officer Commanding, 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, the Controller of Immigration, and NAFDAC’s Zonal Director reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with the Nigeria Customs Service. They lauded the initiative, pledging to strengthen cooperation for national security and economic growth.
