The Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Mr Michael Achimugu, has bagged Protocol Man of the Year Award by the Centre for Protocol Profession Development (CPDD) and the Council of Protocol Professionals (CIPP).
This is in recognition of his invaluable contributions to professionalism and effective protocol management.
The award presentation, held on the sidelines of the 13th International Protocol Officers Conference, Workshop and Awards (IPOC 2026), was hosted by the NIGAV Centre in Lagos between 5th and 9th October, 2026.
Receiving the award, Mr Achimugu, represented by the Assist. General Manager, Education and Awareness Unit, Mrs Ekeh Okam, thanked the bodies for finding him worthy, promising to not rest on his laurels towards ensuring rights and obligations of both air travellers and operators in Nigeria are protected.
The five-day multisectoral conference, themed “Diplomacy of National Interest,” brought together over 150 participants from government institutions, including the NCAA, diplomatic missions, non-governmental organisations and private organisations to share knowledge and experiences on protocol management, diplomacy, travel facilitation and stakeholder relations.
