Maritime Industry Expert, Amiwero Unveils Compendium of Achievements at 71st Birthday
It was joyous moment at the corporate office of the National Council of Managing Directors of Licensed Customs Agents(NCMDLCA) as family members, colleagues and well wishers gathered to celebrate Mr Lucky Amiwero, the President of the Council as he celebrated his 71st birthday with the unveiling of a compendium of achievements on Saturday , September 28, 2024.
As a distinguished professional , Amiwero has left an iconic mark on Nigeria’s maritime industry. Encomium about how his knowledge and expertise have impacted on policies and significantly shaped the country’s maritime business landscape featured at the ceremony
He was described as one who has mentored and educated countless shipping professionals, cementing his legacy as a maritime thought leader through decades
Also going down memory lane and how been transparent and reliable paved way for him in the maritime industry Amiwero said
“I’ve been attacked for always being truthful, everybody around me knows I have zero tolerance for bribery and corruption and because of my good reputation and transparency, I’ve been given jobs free of charge and i delivered
Speaking on his achievements and how he has been able to contribute greatly to humanity he said “I’ve served in about 168 government committees if I’ve used that opportunity to build houses amd collected bribes they would have jailed me and called me a thief. When youβre living for humanity, nobody knows your tribe or religion. Your time and knowledge are given to you to enrich mankind. It’s not a car that makes you great it’s what you impact in the society and we as a nation must change the way we do things.
While unveiling a volume of the ten series compendium of the NCMDLCA achievements for various national economic interventions that enhances international trade procedures customs reforms, ports reforms, policy introduction and policy redirection in Nigeria Mr Lucky also emphasized on the national council’s achievements saying no association in Nigeria has been able to write a compendium which are all facts and not mere claims about their achievements, He said
“This is the first time in Nigeria’s history members of an association are coming together to present a nonemclature to people on how they have been able to achieve some martime policy reforms and their contributions to the nation.
” We are not freight forwarders we are international trade experts, we are licensed customs agents also the first organization that hosted the CG of customs in Nigeria. Weβre trained procedure experts, our work is to classify, interpret and treat documents as customs brokers. Our profession is not political, the National Council was established to train professionals, we are work oriented, knowledge based and we are not relenting on the status quo”.
Mr Ismail Aniemu a renowned martime journalist and publisher of JournalNG while speaking at the event and congratulating Amiwero on the milestone describing him as one that has shown exemplary leadership skills. According to Aniemu, Amiwero’s life style challenged his council members to perform better than him when he retires. He said
Also speaking at the event Mr Dennis Azeke an Attorney at Law at D. I Azeke and Associates Law Firm said he has known Mr Lucky for over two decades and he’s a good Christian who practices whatever he preaches. He said
” I’ve known Mr Lucky Mr Amiwero lucky for over 20 years and i can tell you he’s a practical Christian and what ever he does he makes it transparent for the world to see and that is why he’s a genius and a preacher of hardwork and also rare gift to humanity “.
