Ganduje Commends FAAN For Improving Airports Facilities

The newly appointed Board Chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has lauded the management of the Agency for the continuous efforts made to upgrade the nation’s airports equipment, facilities.

While paying a maiden visit to FAAN Headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos, on 18th February 2025, he expressed satisfaction with the facilities and equipment at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos.

He noted that there are many unfinished projects from the previous administrations that need to be accomplished.He assured that the projects will be completed.

He also commended Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, the FAAN Managing Director/Chief Executive for her dedication to improving the operation standard of the Authority.

“What we have seen, the challenges of abandoned projects awarded many years ago, not abandoned by the present management, but many years ago, prices of cost has gone high, some equipment originally put in place are now obsolete according to modern technology.

“I must say that the agency is blessed with a competent managing director and directors. I have seen signs of motivation, seriousness, and achievement motive as far as they are concerned. Of course, there are some challenges, but we have started discussing how to resolve them.”

Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, in her presentation to the Board Chairman gave a comprehensive overview of activities of all Directorates of the agency. She presented her scorecard for the past one year in which she highlighted the successes and challenges of the administration.

“We have now introduced a number of explosive detection devices, which would, of course, help make sure that our environment is safe and secure as we’re moving people out.The airport is also working closely with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to implement an enhanced safety policy.

“We’re beginning to see a lot of those changes.The feedback from our passengers look promising, but we do agree that we’re not where we need to be yet.”
