Customs Strengthens Relationship With Kano Trading Groups, as Comptroller Chana Calls for Compliance
The Kano/Jigawa Command of Nigeria Customs Service has on Friday November 1,2024 stepped up stakeholders engagement with various market associations with a view to enhancing their level of compliance
Controller of the Command, Dauda Ibrahim Chana with the support of Comptroller Ahmed Tijjani Abe, Controller of Federal Operation Unit, Zone B, jointly assured that the NCS would always make the processs of trade seamless by removing all forms of identified impediments.
The Controllers also used the opportunity of the session to educate traders from various markets including Singa, Kantin Kwari, Sabon Gari, Kano shop owners, online marketers, and Blouse Dealers Association on the Nigeria Customs Service Act (NCSA) 2023
A press release issued in Kano by Saidu Nuruddeen, Customs Public Relations Officer,quoted that the Controllers “also enlightened the stakeholders on the operational exigencies of the service especially the role of Customs Police Unit that investigates and ensure discipline in all NCS operations.
Nuruddeen ,a Superintendent of Customs, added that the meeting demonstrates the service commitment to transparency, accountability, and trade facilitation.
“They pledged noticeable improvements within a week as mechanisms will be put in place to avert further occurrences. The NCS help desk numbers 0201889888, 0201889889 and other online communication channels are encouraged to be used by the public for formal complaints against any customs personnel” the release stated.
