Customs Strengthen Collaboration With Police in Kano, Handover Seized Medicament to NAFDAC


Controller of the Kano/Jigawa Command of Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller Dauda Ibrahim Chana has restated the command’s readiness to always partner with sister security agencies to suppress crime.

Comptroller Chana who said this on Wednesday in Kano when he received the Assistant Inspector General of Police in Charge of Zone 1, AIG Ari Mohammed Ali, described synergy among sister government agencies as a key to operational success.

IMG 20240925 WA00272He expressed appreciation to the Nigeria Police for their support always and reiterated that cooperation, collaboration and consultation are part of the command’s agenda in line with the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR policy thrust.

A press release by Customs Public Relations Officer, Saidu Nuruddeen, said Chana explained to the visiting AIG that the command’s activities covering two states of Kano and Jigawa entails revenue collection,core anti smuggling duties and trade facilitation which requires interaction with government and private sector stakeholders from time to time.

IMG 20240925 WA0028AIG Ali while thanking Comptroller Chana for his warm reception, said his visit to customs is to build on the existing cordial relationship between both organisations across the two states in his zone

He commended Chana for his revenue collection and anti smuggling exploits which, according to him, protects the economy of the country and support the wellbeing of citizens against harmful importation and unlawful trade.

IMG 20240925 WA0026The Command has also handed over seized medicament to the National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

On September 10, 2024 at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, the command intercepted three big brown cartons containing 1880 pieces of ENOX 4000 anti -xa iu/0.4ml injection syringes with injection bottles.

Also handed over to NAFDAC is one sack containing 750 pieces of Otrivin bottles of 15ml each

Comptroller Chana advised traders and travelers to keep themselves abreast of import and export prohibition guidelines as ignorance of the law will not be an excuse when arrested. He advised traders to be complaint by making sincere declarations and avoiding items prohibited by law.
