The Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, the Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI), Lieutenant General Emmanuel Parker Undiandeye, and other dignitaries on Saturday joined family members and well wishers to celebrate the 88th birthday of Mrs. Elizabeth Adalikwu while paying tribute to the memory of her late husband, Pa Peter Adalikwu.

The thanksgiving and memorial service, held at St. Charles Catholic Church, Obudu, brought together government officials, community leaders, friends, and relatives to honour the octogenarian and celebrate the enduring legacy of the late family patriarch, who passed away in 2006.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Governor Odey described Mrs. Adalikwu as a woman of exceptional faith, resilience, and virtue whose life has positively impacted generations. He noted that the occasion was particularly meaningful to him because many of her children were either his classmates or close friends.

According to him, the achievements and exemplary character of Mrs. Adalikwu’s children reflect the values of discipline, hard work, and godliness instilled by both her and her late husband. He said the memorial service was a fitting tribute to Pa Peter Adalikwu, whose legacy continues to inspire his family, the Obudu community, and society at large.
Odey also prayed for God to grant Mrs. Adalikwu continued good health, peace, and many more fruitful years.

In his goodwill message, the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Lt. Gen. Emmanuel A. Undiandeye, commended Mrs. Adalikwu’s unwavering faith, humility, and commitment to family. He described her as an exemplary mother whose children have continued to distinguish themselves through service to humanity and God.
He prayed for God’s continued grace, strength, and abundant blessings upon the celebrant.

Speaking on behalf of the family, the Secretary-General of the Maritime Organisation of West and Central Africa (MOWCA), Dr. Paul Adalikwu, said the gathering was organised to commemorate the passing of their father, Pa Peter Adalikwu, while celebrating the 88th birthday of their mother.
Describing Mrs. Adalikwu as the heart of the family, he thanked God for preserving her life and expressed appreciation to everyone who joined the family to celebrate the milestone and honour the memory of their late father.

“For 88 years, you’ve been the heart of our family. Your strength, your faith, and your love built the home we all cherish. I’m so proud to be your son. May the Lord bless you with good health, peace, and joy on your special day and always,” he said.

Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of Obudu Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Peter Akonfe Undiandeye, thanked God for the life of Mrs. Adalikwu and prayed for her continued strength, sound health, and long life.

He also paid glowing tribute to the late Pa Peter Adalikwu, describing him as a respected patriarch whose enduring legacy of integrity, love, and service continues to unite and inspire his family and the wider society.
