The President-General of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria, Comrade Framcis Bunu, has congratulated women across the world as they celebrate International Women’s Day, urging them to remain strong and continue to play their vital roles in society.
In a statement released by the MWUN Head of Media, Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, Bunu described women as a precious gift from God whose presence has made the world more meaningful, enjoyable, and beautiful.
According to him, the existence of women has helped shape humanity and strengthened the fabric of society, noting that life without women would have been “boring, unpleasant, and unmeaningful.”
The MWUN leader also described women as indispensable to the continuation of humanity, stressing that their contributions to family, community, and national development cannot be overemphasised.
Speaking further, he referred to women as “the salt of the earth,” adding that the world would be hollow and empty without their presence and influence.
Bunu also used the occasion to commend female members of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria, urging them not to relent in demonstrating strength, resilience, and commitment in their roles within the union and society at large.
He expressed pride in the female comrades of the union and encouraged them to continue standing tall among women globally.
