
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has submitted a proposed 2026 budget of N184,392,160,433 to the Senate and House of Representatives Committees on Aviation at the National Assembly.
While presenting the proposal, Keyamo expressed gratitude to the committees for their continued support and collaboration since the start of the current administration.
He emphasized the ministry’s commitment to maintaining a strong partnership with the National Assembly to drive growth and transformation in Nigeria’s aviation sector.
The minister explained that the 2026 budget is strategically designed to modernize safety systems, upgrade digital infrastructure, and enhance human capacity development across the aviation ecosystem. He added that the ministry remains focused on improving operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and service delivery in line with global best practices.
Reflecting on the achievements of the 2025 fiscal year despite funding challenges, Keyamo highlighted the federal government’s successful settlement of outstanding debts owed to foreign airlines.
Other key milestones include Nigeria’s compliance with the Cape Town Convention, the resumption of direct flights to the United Arab Emirates, the launch of direct Abuja–Heathrow services by a local airline to boost competition and lower fares, and the establishment of a national aircraft leasing company to support domestic operators.
