The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has strengthened its operational ties with the 2 Division Nigerian Army and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as part of efforts to enhance national security and improve service delivery.
The renewed collaboration followed a courtesy visit by the Garrison Commander of the 2 Division Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Abubakar Saddiq Bugaje, to the Operational Headquarters of the Oyo/Osun Area Command in Ibadan on Wednesday, 25 February 2026.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Customs I, Abdulmalik Abiodun Akintola, on 26 February 2026.
During the visit, Bugaje emphasised the importance of sustained cooperation among security agencies, noting that no single agency can effectively tackle security challenges in isolation. He reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to supporting the Command in safeguarding lives and property within Oyo State.
In his response, the Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller of Customs Moses Adewole, acknowledged the critical role of the Nigerian Army in protecting the nation against external aggression and maintaining internal security. He assured the Garrison Commander that the Command remains committed to strengthening the existing partnership to enhance operational efficiency and address emerging security concerns.
Adewole accompanied by members of the Command’s Management Team, paid a familiarisation visit to the EFCC Zonal Directorate in Ibadan on Thursday, 26 February 2026. He commended the Commission for its sustained efforts in combating corruption and financial crimes nationwide and called for continued collaboration in joint operations, intelligence sharing, and capacity building initiatives.
Responding, the EFCC Zonal Director, Mrs. Hauwa Garba Ringim, described the relationship between the Commission and the Command as cordial and mutually beneficial. She assured the Customs Area Controller of the Commission’s continued support, particularly in enforcement activities and intelligence driven operations.
The series of engagements highlights the Command’s commitment to fostering strategic partnerships with sister agencies to strengthen security architecture, promote transparency, and enhance effective service delivery in the interest of national development.
