The Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy has reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability, and operational efficiency as it hosted the 6th Peer Review Conference of Chairpersons and Secretaries of Anti-Corruption and Transparency Units (ACTUs) of agencies under the Ministry.
The conference, held in Lagos, provided a platform for institutional self-assessment, knowledge exchange, and collaborative strategies to strengthen anti- corruption measures across the maritime sector.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Fatima Sugra Mahmood, was represented at the event by the Deputy Director, Special Duties, Mrs. Comfort Madichi, who described the conference as a strategic forum to foster ethical governance and reinforce the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to embed integrity and accountability within its agencies.
The Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola, represented by the Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Mr. Chudi Offodile, m emphasised the importance of institutionalising integrity through strengthened internal systems, robust accountability mechanisms, and the effective use of technology to prevent leakages and enhance service delivery.

The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, represented by the Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner, Lagos State, Mr. Alexander Chukwurah, commended the Ministry and its agencies for adopting the peer review framework, highlighting it as a proactive approach to promoting integrity and reform in the maritime sector.
