In a recent move that is likely to affect some global bodies, United States’ President, Donald Trump has directed the withdrawal of the his country from 66 global organisations, the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, announced.
According to Rubio, the decision follows Executive Order 14199 and an administration-wide review of international bodies receiving US participation or funding.
Rubio explained that the review found many of these institutions to be redundant, mismanaged, or unnecessary, with some actively acting against US interests.
Others, he added, have become platforms for ideological agendas that undermine national sovereignty and divert American resources with minimal tangible benefit.
