Customs: Comptroller Abubakar Records 81% Revenue Growth at Lagos Free Zone , Generates ₦72.17bn in October 2025

The Lagos Free Trade Zone (LFTZ) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has recorded a remarkable revenue growth, collecting ₦72,173,237,710.99 billion in October 2025 compared to ₦39,783,821,146.00 billion in the same period of 2024 ,an increase of ₦32.39 billion, representing an 81 percent rise.

The growth which was achieved in less than two months after the assumption of office by the new Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Hauwa Abubakar, signals a renewed era of efficiency, transparency, and improved trade facilitation within the command.

Since she took charge on 4th September , 2025, Comptroller Abubakar has focused on deepening inter-agency collaboration, enhancing compliance, and strengthening stakeholder relationships across the Lagos Free Trade Zone and the Lekki Deep Sea Port.

The October performance reflects the Command’s intensified efforts in revenue collection and enforcement, supported by the dedication and professionalism of its officers. The Command has also witnessed improved coordination with other regulatory agencies and private sector operators within the Free Zone, ensuring that trade procedures remain seamless and efficient.

Beyond revenue performance, Comptroller Abubakar has also visited critical stakeholders including Dangote Refinery, Lekki Deep Seaport, Lekki Freeport Terminal and others

She also administered the decoration of 29 recently promoted officers and men of the command in recognition of their commitment and outstanding performance. During the decoration ceremony, she described the promotions as rewards for hard work and integrity, while reminding officers that higher ranks come with greater responsibilities and expectations.

Under her leadership, the Command continues to strengthen operational structures, encourage compliance among operators, and foster a culture of transparency and accountability.
