Born Chikezie Isaac Chigozie, the Lagos-based artiste said his music is shaped by personal experiences, emotional depth, and a deep-rooted belief in artistic authenticity.

As he eyes the world stage, Armani pledged to be part of a new breed of performers who are determined not to be boxed in, in the rapidly changing Nigerian music industry, where trends come and go.

He said: “Being authentic has to come from within. I’ve always believed every artist has their message to convey, and I’ll do the same with my originality and style.”

“The industry doesn’t have to make me do something else. Rather, it should blend into my sound. There’s always a different artist coming out every day with their unique style, so I’ll stick to mine.”

Originally from Abia State, Armani, well known for his singles ‘Kilofeso’ and ‘In My Head,’ revealed his journey into music began in the most familiar of places—his local church choir.

He said it was there he first discovered the power of melody and harmony, nurturing a passion that would eventually define his career.

The singer describes himself as a “mid-tempo soul-influenced artiste”, whose sound thrives on emotional connectivity.

“I want my listeners to feel the sound and listen to the lyrics. It’ll always be about love, about struggle, about life.”

Like many others, Armani said his upbringing wasn’t without its challenges. Yet, he credits the support of his parents, even in difficult times, as a stabilizing force that helped shape his perspective and creative outlook.

“Growing up wasn’t easy, but I had parents who showed us love. One experience that really shaped me was learning that you must work very hard to show yourself where you belong. That lesson has stuck with me.”

According to Armani, while his music is deeply personal, it is also inspired by some of Nigeria’s finest. He cited Wizkid and Olamide as examples of consistency he strives to emulate, and praised Fireboy DML for his creative range.

“I’ve always loved Wizkid and Olamide’s style of consistency. And I love Fireboy’s sound, especially how he switches his vibes effortlessly. That inspires me,” he noted

But even with those influences, Armani insists on writing his own lyrics and crafting songs from scratch.

“I write all my songs. Sometimes I write based on how I feel in a moment—maybe from my environment, my mood, or just a reflection on past experiences. I try to turn those emotions into music.”

Despite his passion and talent, Armani admitted the road has not been smooth. Like many upcoming artists, he said he continues to grapple with the harsh realities of building a career in a competitive industry.

Still, he is optimistic about the direction of the industry. According to him, platforms and digital tools are increasingly empowering independent voices, allowing new artistes to break through with the right mix of talent and strategy.

“The major challenges are finance—having enough to fund your projects, and also the difficulty in getting attention from big-name artistes. But I keep pushing. I work, I invest in my craft, and I show up every day ready.”

“With a good sound and great promotion, an upcoming artiste can make waves. The industry has evolved a lot. You just have to be prepared,” he explained.

On his latest project, a yet-to-be-released single, leans heavily on Afrobeats rhythms and themes of emotional intimacy. The track, he noted, explores the idea of connection and commitment in a relationship, and he hopes it resonates with listeners.

According to him, the new song also serves as a lead single for an upcoming EP, which he said will further explore his sonic range and lyrical themes.

“It’s about a connection with a girl. Expect a different kind of love vibe. The message is just love—and letting your loved ones know you’ll be there for them, no matter what happens.”

“It’s all coming together gradually. This new release will set the tone for what’s ahead,” he added.

Apart from music, Armani said he is also interested in fashion, which he intends to combine with his music brand in order to stand out in the crowded entertainment industry.

“I want to merge my fashion style with my music to be outstanding. It’s all part of my vision,” he noted.

Beyond his next single, Armani hopes to collaborate with a mix of Nigerian and international talents. Locally, he mentioned Fireboy, Fave, and Ilona as dream collaborators. Internationally, his sights are set on American rapper and singer Dej Loaf, and Canadian artist Tory Lanez.

In the next three to five years, he revealed that he hopes to be touring globally, building an audience that appreciates both his sound and visual identity.

To fans and first-time listeners alike as well as those facing personal or creative setbacks, Armani encouraged noting: “Stay strong through whatever situation you’re in—it won’t last forever. And keep your ears open. I’ll be disturbing your speakers pretty soon.”
