Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has described Rotimi Amaechi as a liar whose family amassed wealth through different means including receiving a Rolls Royce as gift from a contractor.
Reacting to earlier comments made by Amaechi, a two term governor of Rivers State and former Minister of Transportation, where he claimed not to like money while describing his wife as an ardent business person, Wike said Amaechi’s postulations were untrue.
The FCT Minister said Amaechi’s wife got ₦4b monthly for one year totaling ₦48b from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). Wike added that Amaechi facilitated government contracts for his wife in two federal government agencies under his supervision as minister- Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA)
Wike, who spoke on Channels Television’s Politics Today, stated further that Amaechi’s mention of these two agencies owing contractors in his earlier live interview was because his wife is being owed in those organisations
He urged President Bola Tinubu to direct the release of a forensic audit on NDDC that would expose Amaechi’s wife deals with a vow that should the allegations be found untrue, he is ready to resign as FCT Minister.
He further described Amaechi as corrupt and condemned his act of collecting a Rolls Royce as gift from a contractor working for his state in 2014
