The Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku has warned that any airport concessionaire caught engaging in touting activities will risk losing it’s operating license.
She made this known during a Stakeholders’ Forum with airport concessionaires hosted by the Directorate of Commercial and Business Development, FAAN, on June 23, 2025 with the theme: “Strengthening Partnerships for Sustainable Growth and Development.”
The FAAN MD declared that drastic measures will be taken against unauthorized businesses operating along airport access routes. She disclosed that engagements are already ongoing with Lagos State Government to clear tankers parked illegally within the Murtala Muhammed International Airport .
FAAN is now operating a new payment system that will fully eliminate cash transactions, replacing them with contactless, card-based and digital options like QR codes, prepaid cards, and mobile payments compatible with global standards .
Kuku said this is to ensure seamless, secure, and traceable financial transactions across all FAAN managed facilities.
She reassured stakeholders that FAAN remains committed to fostering an enabling environment for business growth and profitability while ensuring that passengers receive the best possible service experience.
“We cannot have businesses lining the airport roads in an unorganized and insecure manner. All revenue points, from access gates to tenant payments, will now be processed via cards, digital links, or USSD. Lagos and Abuja will pilot this rollout,” she said.
