Customs Oyo/Osun Area Command Decorates 95 Newly Promoted Officers, Celebrates ICD

The Customs Area Controller of the Oyo/Osun Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) , Ben Oramalugo has officially decorated 95 officers and men of the Command who were promoted to the next rank in the just concluded promotion exercise organised by the Service.

According to a press release issued by the Command Public Relations Officer , Kayode Wey, the International Customs Day (ICD) , which is celebrated on 26th January annually to recognize the important role of Customs in the global economy was marked alongside the promotion ceremony at the Oyo/Osun Area Command’s Operational Headquarters in Ibadan on Monday, January 27th 2025 .

In his address, Oramalugo congratulated the officers and men for their well-deserved promotions. He acknowledged that their dedication and consistent performance in various capacities had significantly contributed to the Command’s operational success.

He added that the ceremony serves as both a celebration of individual achievement and a reminder of the high standards the Nigeria Customs Service strives to maintain.

The Area Controller of Oyo/Osun Area Command urged the newly decorated officers to serve as role models to their colleagues, continue to build their capacity as well as intellect and continue contributing positively to the growth and advancement of the Nigeria Customs Service.

He commended the officers who came from various units and departments within the Oyo/Osun Area Command, as he stated that the decoration with their new ranks marks a significant achievement in their careers.

Comptroller Oramalugo noted that through continuous training, strategic partnerships, and the adoption of technology, the Command has successfully improved its service delivery to the public adding that the theme for this year’s ICD celebration, “Customs Delivering on its Commitment to Efficiency, Security, and Prosperity” reflects the Command’s dedication to not only securing its borders but also contributing to the prosperity of our nation.

He stated that Customs as a key player in international trade, will continue to innovate and collaborate to ensure that the processes are seamless, efficient, and secure.

A series of activities were carried out during the celebration, including a Presentation from an Officer who served as a resource person and an interactive session on how the Customs service can further enhance its role in supporting the government’s economic agenda. The event also highlighted the role of customs in combating smuggling and enhancing revenue generation through transparent and efficient processes.
