Governor Fubara Delivers Transformer To Boost Power Supply In Govt’s Agencies     

...As MDAs Applaud State Government, Pledge Proper Maintenance Of Facility

In his bid to provide purpose-driven leadership and improve the lives of the people, Rivers State Governor Siminialayi Fubara, has fulfilled his promise of providing transformers to ease the power challenges faced in parts of the state.

In fulfillment of his pledge to provide adequate power supply, the governor delivered a brand new transformer on January 7, 2025 to the remodeled Waterlines Building in Port Harcourt, the state capital, to ease the power challenges faced by Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of both the state and Federal Government domiciled in the premises.

Residents of the state, especially those doing business within the Waterlines premises, who exuded excitement at the gesture, described the delivery of the transformer at the beginning of the year as “an uncommon New Year gift,” insisting that is it a reflection of Governor Fubara’s resolve to improve the living condition of Rivers people.

Speaking during the delivery of the transformer, Acting Executive Secretary of Rivers Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP), Dr. Vetty Agala, whose office is domiciled in the premises, commended the governor for making RIVCHPP functional and approving an office space for the agency within the remodeled Waterlines Building.

Agala, who also expressed delight and confidence that the new transformer will put an end to the constant power outages and challenges that had plagued occupants of the premises over the years, maintained that quality healthcare services remain critical to Rivers citizens and applauded Governor Fubara for always prioritising health outcomes as a cardinal focus of his administration.

She disclosed that within the nine months of its establishment, the agency has taken care of the financial health needs of over 67,000 Rivers residents, while thanking the governor for implementing the health insurance law in the state, which she said, has given impetus to the agency to touch lives in consonance with the governor’s mantra of putting the people first.

A visibly excited Agala said the new transformer would help to make the work of the agency, which is mainly digitized, to become seamless as there will now be regular power supply in the offices.

Speaking during the delivery of the transformer, Commissioner for Power, Solomon Abel Eke, who commended Governor Fubara’s proactive stance and his leadership style of always ensuring that promises made are kept as quickly as possible,  charged the departments and agencies within the remodeled Waterlines House to ensure proper maintenance and utilisation of the transformer.

Eke also restated the governor’s vision of ensuring that all parts of the state enjoy constant power supply to ease businesses and improve the welfare of the people.
