Najomo Harps on Staff Productivity as NCAA Marks 25 Year Anniversary

The Acting Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Captain Chris Najomo has urged employees of the agency to improve on their productivity as the organisation marked it’s 25 year anniversary of existence.

Addressing a gathering of NCAA management and staff members to commemorate the anniversary, Najomo said the federal government has invested immensely on the organisation stressing that such commitment by government should be reciprocated with productivity

Najomo said the NCAA workforce on his watch is united in bringing to fruition the 5-point agenda of the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo and ultimately, Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda for the aviation sector.


He noted that the NCAA performed well in 2024 while listing some achievements attained in the previous year. He reminded them of the agency’s thrust of holding staff accountable for outcomes of their action and inaction in the discharge of their duties.

He said “I make bold to say that, even though we did well in 2024, we still have a huge task ahead of us. This year, we must move NCAA and the Nigeria aviation industry to its rightful place as a leader on the
African continent. Being the industry regulator comes with huge
responsibility.

“To whom much is given, much is expected. I want you to encourage me to do even more for you. HoW can you do that? I expect remarkable improvement in staff productivity from you in
2025.

“On assumption of office as Acting DGCA, I made staff welfare a priority because only a well-motivated workforce can deliver on our statutory regulatory responsibilities. Everyone can attest to the implementation staff-centric policies throughout the Authority.

“However, this also requires reciprocation from you as the beneficiaries.
Therefore, My Charge to Staff
The onus is now on you to deliver for the benefit of not only me and your directors, but for Nigeria and humanity at large. You must show renewed dedication to duty;

“Be punctual; come to work at the appropriate time, Shun absenteeism
do not delay files and documents,
ensure you deliver on your schedules,
be courteous and professional to internal and external visitors; eschew all forms of gossip and character asSsassination. By the end of 2025, we must be able to point to tangible successes.The aviation industry must be safe, secure, economically viable and consumer-friendly.

“Technical and non-technical staff of relevant directorates directly
in charge of these goals would be held responsible for any flaws emanating from their inaction. So, while we continue to pray fervently, let’s also roll up our sleeves and put in the hard work.
NCAA’s Silver Jubilee For 25 years, this beloved organization of ours has given us, and others before us, the opportunity to be productive for ourselves,
families and dependents. We cannot pull down a house we are part and parcel of. We must therefore nurture NCAA and contribute in our little way to its progress. In summary, in 2025, I want you to prove that you are worthy to be identified as a proud staff of
Nigeria’s foremost aviation regulator – NCAA” he said

Asking rhetorically the acting DG listed some achievements made last year to include staff promotion, payment of housing and relocation arrears; commissioning of abandoned regional offices in Port Harcourt and Kano; review of decade old condition of service and commencement of the development of an aviation master plan for the country.

He also listed the automation of the Authority’s functions from EMPIC to the Flight Data Centre to the DATR e-Portal to the CPD Portal to the zoom-enabled training hall in Lagos.
