President Bola Tinubu has restricted Ministers of State, and Heads of Agencies of the Federal Government to a maximum of three vehicles in their official convoys.
This was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga in a press release on 24th October, 2024.
According to Onanuga, President Tinubu took significant steps to reduced government expenditure from 50 to 20 officials and reduced local trips to 20 officials.
In January this year,
the vice president’s entourage was also reduced to five officials on foreign trips and 15 for local trips by the president.
All the ministers, ministers of states and heads of agencies were ordered to have five security personnel attached to them, which will include four police officers and one Department of state service (DSS) officer
The National Security Adviser was instructed to engage with military ,paramilitary and Security Agencies by the president to determine a reduction in their vehicle and security personnel deployment.
Onanuga noted that all officials are expected to comply with these new measures immediately, emphasising the urgency and seriousness of these changes.
