A devastating incident occurred in Abuja today as the Kubo Bus Terminal, a relatively new addition to the city’s transportation infrastructure, collapsed due to strong winds. The pedestrian bridge connecting the bus terminal to the nearby furniture market also suffered significant damage, adding to the chaos.

The terminal, which was commissioned in November last year by the Federal Minister Nyesom Wike, was inaugurated as part of efforts to improve transportation infrastructure in Abuja and curb the “one chance” menace. The project was touted as a game-changer for the city’s transportation system, promising to provide a safe and efficient hub for commuters.
Reports indicate that the collapse has caused widespread disruption and outrage among locals, who are questioning the quality of construction and safety measures in place. The incident has also raised concerns about the city’s preparedness for extreme weather events.
However, details on casualties and the extent of the damage are still emerging, with rescue teams and authorities working to assess the situation. The incident has sparked a renewed debate about infrastructure development and maintenance in Abuja, with many calling for accountability and swift action to prevent similar incidents in the future.
